IN YOUR HOME WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Prescription medications should only be taken by the person for whom they are prescribed. When used improperly, these medicines — including analgesics, CNS depressants, and stimulants — can cause serious side effects, including addiction and even death.

Unfortunately, many kids who abuse prescription drugs start by experimenting with whatever they happen to find around the house. So start by getting rid of all prescription medications in your house that you are no longer taking or that are out of date. Ask your pharmacist what's the best way to dispose of them.

Talk to your healthcare professional. If you are taking any prescription medications that he or she thinks could be abused, you may want to keep them in a secure place only you know about.
