Prescription Drugs > Depressants

CNS depressants are medications used to slow down or “depress” the functions of the brain and Central nervous system (CNS). As they work, CNS depressants create a sedative effect and can also cause drowsiness.
Because of the effect they have on important brain activities, CNS depressants should only be used when prescribed by a doctor or other healthcare professional.
